Fujairah Terminals – Investing for the Future of Trade

Fujairah Terminals is part of Abu Dhabi Ports’ commitment to the UAE, one more way we’re investing in the country to ensure it continues to prosper. In addition to improvements in infrastructure and facilities, Abu Dhabi Ports will bring years of management experience in handling general cargo, containers, RoRo and passengers vessels to the project. With our steady hands at the wheel, Fujairah can expect great things.

Our commitment to the country’s economy is also a commitment to the people in Fujairah. Fujairah Terminals will create skilled job opportunities for Emirati nationals, helping attract and develop local talent. Development will also help businesses in and around Fujairah, providing competitive port and logistics solutions to local industry, with a special focus on the Fujairah Free Zone. Benefits to the community equal benefits to Abu Dhabi Ports’ shareholders, as our success and that of the people in Fujairah go hand in hand.

Port of Fujairah – Where UAE Welcomes the World

A key shipping hub for the UAE and wider region, the Port of Fujairah is the only one of its kind on the country’s eastern coast. Strategically located near the Strait of Hormuz, it acts as an economic link between east and west, opening up the markets of the Indian subcontinent and East Africa to local and international goods.

Since opening operations in 1983, the port has provided vital infrastructure and resources to the region while playing an essential economic role. Facilities and services are offered to meet every need, including container operations, general and bulk cargo, new projects cargo and RoRo, as well as wet bulk cargo (oil and fuel).

The pivotal location of the port means it attracts a variety of users, with vessels docking for differing purposes including container services, refuelling, supplies and materials.

Some facts about the Port of Fujairah:

  • The current number of berths is 19 – this includes 9 oil berths and a giant oil tanker berth. Two additional berths were added in 2015 (berths 8 and 9) with a total length of 930 metres and depth of 18 metres. Two more oil berths are currently under construction – they will accommodate smaller tankers and bring the total number of berths to 21.
  • The port hosted 4,859 vessels in 2016, while the total number of vessels arriving at Fujairah Anchorage was 14,942 (based on the port’s recent annual report).
