On June 19, 2017, Abu Dhabi Ports signed a 35-year concession agreement with the Port of Fujairah, renewable for five more years, under which “Fujairah Terminals” was established. Under the terms of the agreement, over 1 billion AED will be invested in equipment and infrastructure.



Abu Dhabi Ports has been granted the exclusive right to enhance existing infrastructure at the Port of Fujairah, as well as to manage all container, general cargo, RoRo and cruise ships in the port.

The concession agreement also stipulates:

  • A deepening of berths to -18 meters to allow bigger vessels to enter the Port of Fujairah
  • The creation of approximately 300,000 square meters of storage space

The development of berths and yards is scheduled to begin in 2018. The port will remain operational during this time and continue to service new and existing clients.



To meet the needs of global shipping companies and service operators in line with the highest international standards, Abu Dhabi Ports is upgrading the Fujairah Terminals with new and advanced equipment, which is expected to be operational by 2021. This highly advanced equipment includes:

  • STS Post Panama quay cranes
  • Rubber-Tyred Gantry cranes (RTGs)
  • New IT systems

In addition, Maqta Gateway, a wholly owned subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Ports, will be engaged to develop a port community system that links port communities with various departments, facilities and operations.
