June 2017 – Abu Dhabi Ports and the Fujairah Terminals sign a 35-year concession agreement, renewable for five more years, under which “Fujairah Terminals”, a new operational arm wholly owned by Abu Dhabi Ports, is established. The concession agreement grants Abu Dhabi Ports exclusive rights to:

  • Manage containers, general cargo, Ro-Ro and passenger operations
  • Deepen berths to 18 meters and develop an additional 1 km quay
  • Develop container capacity to one million TEUs and 700,000 tonnes of general cargo by 2030
  • Operate an approximately 300,000 square-meter and of storage space
  • Enhance existing utilities, including water, power and telecoms, in the storage space
  • Execute construction for the A2 area. While A1 area is operated, area A2 will include 500m of 18m LAT quay wall, 150,000 square meters of paving associated utilities, operations buildings and maintenance buildings (to be completed within 12 months from the date of commencement)
  • Execute operations for the A2 area to include 350m of 18m LAT quay wall, 295,000 square meters of paving and associated utilities (to be completed within 12 months from the date of commencement)
  • Equip Fujairah Terminals with new and advanced equipment such as STS post panama quay cranes and RTG’s, to meet the needs of global shipping companies and service operators according to the highest international standards
